Johnson County Fire and Rescue Association History

                                       
The organizational meeting of the Johnson County Fire & Rescue Training Association was conducted on September 12, 1977 at the Mayo State Vocational Technical School in Paintsville, Kentucky.
The following organizations were represented: Oil Springs Fire & Rescue, Paintsville Fire & Rescue, Thelma Fire & Rescue, Johnson County DES, Johnson County Fiscal Court and Kentucky Fire Service Training.
An election of officers was conducted and were as follows: Bob Dixon, President – Eldon Caudill, Vice-President – Bob Barringer, Secretary – Ron Hayes, Treasurer.
Topics discussed at the meeting consisted of developing by-laws, a uniform number system for all departments and the amount of Association Dues.
In the past 30 years the Association has grown to a total of 15 agencies including 13 Fire & Rescue Agencies, Region 11 State Fire Rescue Training, and Paintsville/Johnson County Emergency Management.
