Free Smoke Detector and Fire Safety Program

The Johnson County Fire & Rescue Association and The Kentucky Residential Fire Injury Prevention Project have made available a free smoke detector program for the residents of Johnson County and the City of Paintsville. The Residential Fire Injury Prevention Project is a program designed to reduce the number of deaths and injuries related to fires in Kentucky homes. The project is funded by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, which is part of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All local fire departments have free smoke detectors available for installation. If your residence does not have a smoke detector or if you need additional detectors you may contact your local fire department and schedule an installation. The local departments will also provide fire safety education to the residents of each home where smoke alarms are installed. For any additional information you can contact the office of Paintsville/Johnson County Emergency Management at 789-2260.
